New Photonic Crystal Large Mode Area fibers
Crystal Fibre A/S has introduced new portfolio of standard
Large Mode Area Fibers
Crystal Fibre A/S has upgraded and expanded our portfolio of Large Mode Area Photonic Crystal Fibers. Using our PCF technology, these LMA-fibers offers benefits and possibilities that cannot be accomplished using regular, conventional fibers. One of these benefits is single mode guidance over very wide wavelength ranges from UV up to telecom wavelengths. (These fibers are often referred to as endlessly single mode fibers.) Other benefits are mode field area several times larger than what has been obtained in standard fiber technology as well as constant mode field area for all wavelengths.
The new fibers have core diameters of 8 um, 15 um, 20 um, 25 um and 35 um respectively, resulting in mode field areas up to 530 um2.
The fibers were designed for cleaving and stripping using conventional fiber tools, and they are available with hermetically sealed ends and FC/PC connectors. For the connectorized fibers, we can customize the amount of fiber end beam expansion.
Typical applications for these fibers are high power delivery, short pulse delivery and applications requiring one fiber to be single mode at all wavelengths.
The fibers are optimized for the following wavelengths:LMA- 8: UV - 800 nmLMA-15: UV - 800 nmLMA-20: 600 - 1000 nmLMA-25: 800 - 1550 nmLMA-35: 1450 and above
Advantages Large Mode Area Photonic Crystal Fibers:* High threshold power for nonlinear and damage effects* Endlessly single mode* Pure silica* Mode field diameter independent of wavelength* Easy alignments* Optical connectors and beam expansion
Applications LMA-8 and LMA-15:* RGB Transmission* Single mode high power delivery* Short pulse delivery* Mode filtering
Applications LMA-20, LMA-25 and LMA-35:* Single mode high power delivery* Multi-wavelength transmission* Mode filtering* Short pulse delivery* Nd:YAG and fiber laser pigtailing
About Crystal FibreCrystal Fibre A/S designs, manufactures and markets photonic crystal fibers (PCFs). Photonic crystal fibers, also known as microstructure or holey fibers, are a brand new range of optical fibers offering extreme fiber parameters and hence significant new possibilities and functionality within optical fibers and optical components in general.
They launched their first product in the summer of 2000 and have since then expanded our product range considerably. They are today the biggest commercial supplier of photonic crystal fibers and offer a diversity of specialty fibers from stock. In addition to sales of fibers from stock, they are also engaged in customer specific design with several major customers.
